The ICS Early Childhood program provides ICS's youngest students with the tools necessary for success as they begin their Catholic education.
Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K3 and Pre-K4)
- | Our Pre-K program is Christ-centered with an emphasis on the whole child and is designed to support parents in the education of their children. The classes introduce the child to school through a variety of activities, in music, play, art, reading readiness and math preparation.
- | Beginning at the young age of three, our children are taught to value and respect their instructors, each other and themselves and love of God is incorporated in all aspects of their learning environment. Our youngsters are taught to thank God on a daily basis for all the benefits provided to them by hard-working parents. A basic respect for self and others is stressed through a positive child-centered curriculum. Students also learn the fundamentals of the Catholic faith which guides them in making "good choices".
- | The Early Childhood students are fortunate to have teachers who believe in a new approach to learning, through center based instruction and state-of-the art technology, such as interactive white boards and smart tables.
- | Even our youngest students benefit from the enrichment of special classes such as music, library and physical education which takes place in the beautiful new gymnasium.
- | All Early Childhood Education classes have a minimum of one teacher and one assistant in every classroom providing a small student:teacher ratio.
- | Cultural activities include visits from local community helpers and on-site visits by performing artists.
- | Our early childhood program has its own play area and special seasonal activities throughout the school year.
The wonderful work of the Pre-K is continued in our Kindergarten class.
- | The students will progress into a more formal, balanced, yet comfortable reading program. Children soon become familiar with the world of print. Emergent readers write and read stories for teachers and classmates and integrate important skills which will serve as a foundation for the work they will encounter in the elementary grades.
- | Introduction to math at the Pre-K level transitions students into exciting and adventurous math program, with a strong emphasis on the use of manipulatives. Students will extend their knowledge with numbers, shapes, and mathematical operations.
- | In addition to these programs, Kindergartners have an opportunity to participate in technology, art, music, gym and library classes each week, all of which are taught by specialist teachers who promote age-appropriate activities in class.
- | All Pre-K and kindergarten classes are equipped with interactive Smartboards. |
