November 2007
Dear Parents/Guardians,
November began with the
double feasts in remembrance of those who have died:
All Saints Day and All Souls Day. On
these days we prayed that all people will share the
glory of the saints. All through this month, we will
offer prayers to remember the dead and to thank God
for the bounty we enjoy. We also ask God to provide
enough for the poor of the world. We offer prayers
of intercession for those who suffer most; the poor,
the hungry, the homeless and the jobless. Each
morning we include the names sent in by our ICS
families. We will offer these names at our School
Mass in December. Families are always welcome to
join us at our School Liturgies.
Report Cards
First Quarter Report
Cards will be distributed to students on Thursday,
November 15th. Some reports may be
withheld due to non-payment of tuition. In order to
avoid this, families are reminded that all payments
should be made current by Wednesday, November 14th.
Report Card Conferences will be held on Friday,
November 16th from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. in
the cafeteria and 1st floor classrooms.
Appointments will not be scheduled; Conferences will
be on a drop-in, as-needed basis. As you may know
our teachers are working without a contract this
year. As negations continue, they are asked to “work
to rule” which means that all duties should be
completed during normal school hours. We know that
teachers always put in time after
school or at home to fulfill the many obligations of
teaching. Some even spent time away at Nature’s
Classroom or gave up a Friday night for Youth Night.
In order to be sensitive to the teachers’ needs,
conferences will be held during the confines of the
school day. Conferences will be brief; 5- 10 minutes
maximum. However, if more time is needed to discuss
academic or behavioral issues, the teachers have
volunteered to make individual arrangements to meet
before or after school, or arrange for a phone
conference with parents.
Dismissal on
Friday, November 16th will be at 11:30.
12:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Report Card Conferences- Friday, November 16th
Heat
Our temporary oil tank
was installed and filled last Wednesday. On Thursday
we discovered a problem with the boiler. Mr. Juarez
worked with the heating company until 9:00 p.m.
Thursday evening to be sure the system was fully
functioning. On Friday we enjoyed balmy temperatures
in school. Monday morning another problem arose and
the service men were summoned. Please be sure your
child has their extra fleece in school every day in
case the building is chilly.
Uniforms
Families are reminded
that students should be wearing winter uniforms.
Boys should wear dress shirts with ties. For uniform
appearance all collars should be buttoned and ties
worn properly. Girls should wear dress blouses. When
wearing winter uniforms, black or navy knee socks or
tights should be worn. “No show” socks are not
permitted. Skirts should be knee length. Don’t
forget a coat of polish on those school shoes to
complete the neat appearance.
