April 2008

Hello Fellow ICS Parents and Guardians,

It has been a while and I don’t know where to begin!

We have done so much and have so much more to look forward to!

I am coming off a really feel good weekend and it is all because of our 3rd Annual Dinner Dance.  What a team effort that led right into a fantastic night! Great Music! Good Food & Drink! And Wonderful People!  Who could ask for anything more?  Well I can and in fact I am because I want all this to happen not at Lake Isle Country Club as wonderful as that was but in OUR GYM!  Now, don’t stop reading because I mentioned that word again and you are tired of hearing about it. Just hear me out…..

It is time that we as school families step up and show everyone else who we are and what we are made of.  I know many families including myself have done just that and I applaud you and give you my whole hearted thanks for being the pace setters.  As for those of you who have yet to join the team, I ask you to please examine your conscience as well as your budgets and try to work something out to make that pledge.  We really need the school participation to move forward. We are so close to being able to go to the Archdiocese and say we are ready to break ground but we are not quite there yet.  Your pledge could be the one to allow this to happen!  It is not just for our kids but for generations to come, just as generations before us built this school for our children. Buildings don’t just appear out of nowhere.  They are built one brick at a time through hard work and sacrifice and are these not the values that we want our children to learn?  Then I ask you what better way than to teach by example?  It has been said over and over again that a $3,000 pledge over five (5) years comes down to about $10 a week.  I know, I easily spend that and more on coffee every week but I don’t anymore because that is exactly how I am paying off my pledge.  Let me see coffee which I can easily make at home or a gym for my children?  If only all decisions in life could be that easy!

On behalf of our children, I thank those of you who have made their pledge. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who put themselves on the line and worked the campaign and made the phone calls.  And for those of you who have yet to make a pledge, I ask you to just turn the rest of the world off for one minute and close your eyes and envision future Dinner Dances in our gym, hear our children’s cheers at basketball games and hear their laughter at Halloween and Christmas parties in our gym.  The possibilities are endless but it can only happen if you allow it to.  I know it is a lot to ask and all of you have given so much already but I ask you.   Is it not all worth it for our young ones just starting out to have a gym in their school?  Is it not all worth it for our teens to have a safe place to congregate?

Is it not all worth it for ourselves to have a place to enjoy one another’s company without having to pay exuberant prices?

Think about it!  I did! And I know I made the right decision and I know you will too.

Look for a great BIG Thank You and Upcoming Events Sheet in the not to distant future!

Sincerely,

Judy Eberhart
